Description

Le Liadou "Le Camille"

The Liadou is the emblematic knife of the Marcillac winegrowers. Once made by Aveyron cutlery workshops, it was produced in the coal basin by the Roche company in Decazeville. It was used to split wicker and to "tie" (lier) the vines for crown pruning. It was also used for snacks and household tasks. Its typical wide blade pointing downwards and its firm, lively spring made it a reliable, durable tool.

Today, in order to preserve a piece of the basin's history and to support the Sporting Club Decazevillois, whose Camille Guibert stadium was partly destroyed by a storm in 2025, Le Liadou du Vallon & the Club Entreprises Promoval came up with the idea of creating the Liadou "Le Camille".

This exceptional special series is made with black locust (robinia) wood from the forest of La Vaysse. In the 19th century, black locust was used to make the props that supported the roofs of the mine galleries. The handle, with blue and white spacers, proudly displays the colours of the Sporting Club Decazevillois.

This Liadou® "Le Camille" features a Sandvik 14C28 steel blade engraved with a drawing of the stadium's grandstand. It is made entirely by hand in our workshop in Marcillac-Vallon, Aveyron. The registered trademark Le Liadou du Vallon® guarantees the quality, origin and authenticity of its products.

This knife comes with a lifetime warranty against all manufacturing defects. Avoid prolonged contact with moisture and take care of its locking mechanism and blade.
